How We Rate

Every score is built from independent expert reviews, normalized onto one scale, and kept honest.

ClarityPoint is a reviewer-consensus engine. We aggregate and paraphrase trusted expert reviews with attribution; we do not claim first-hand testing unless a page explicitly says we tested that product.

1. We start with trusted sources

Every consensus is built from reviews published by established, independent outlets with a track record of hands-on testing. We prioritize publications that test products directly and disclose how they test. We do not draw from anonymous blogs, AI-spun content farms, or retailer marketing copy.

2. We normalize the verdicts

One outlet scores out of 10, another awards stars, a third gives only a written recommendation. We translate each onto a single 0–100 scale, reading the full review — not just the headline number — so a “4.5 stars but skip the base model” lands where it should.

3. We calculate the Consensus Score

The Consensus Score is the weighted agreement of those normalized verdicts. The more independent reviewers line up, the more confident the score. Where reviewers genuinely disagree, we surface that on the page instead of hiding it behind an average.

Score Verdict What it means
85–100 BUY Broad expert agreement that this is a strong choice right now.
70–84 WAIT / CONSIDER Good, but with real caveats, close rivals, or a better moment to buy.
Below 70 SKIP Reviewers flag enough compromises that most buyers should look elsewhere.

4. We keep it honest

  • We paraphrase and summarize; we link and attribute the reviewers whose work informs each score.
  • We do not claim first-hand testing unless a page explicitly says we tested that product.
  • Affiliate links never influence a score — the consensus is computed before any link is attached.
  • AI assists drafting; a human reviews every page before it publishes, and AI-assisted content is labeled.

5. We keep it current

Scores are refreshed as new reviews land and as successors ship, so a verdict reflects what the expert field thinks today — not what it thought at launch. See our source and editorial policies for the full rules.
