The dream of a single charger to power all our high-performance gadgets is no longer a distant fantasy. Anker’s latest offering steps up to the plate, promising to tame the cable chaos on our desks with an unprecedented level of power. It’s a bold claim for a device that aims to be the one true hub for everything from powerhouse laptops to the smallest accessories.

The Anker Prime 240W GaN Desktop Charger is an exercise in managed excess. Its headline feature is, of course, the staggering 240 watts of total output distributed across four ports. This isn’t just a number on a box; it translates into real-world capability that few other chargers can match. The star of the show is the primary USB-C port, which leverages the USB Power Delivery 3.1 standard to push out a full 140W. This is enough to fast-charge the most demanding laptops on the market, including Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro, at their maximum supported speed. During testing, it effortlessly powered a MacBook Pro, an iPad Pro, and an iPhone 15 Pro simultaneously, with the fourth port still available for a pair of headphones or another accessory. Anker’s PowerIQ 4.0 technology does an admirable job of dynamically distributing the power, ensuring each device gets an optimized charge without the user having to puzzle over which port to use.

Anker has wisely opted for a desktop form factor rather than a clumsy wall brick. The charger is a dense, compact monolith with a sophisticated matte gray finish that looks right at home next to premium tech. While GaN technology helps keep the size down relative to its power output, it’s still a substantial unit with considerable heft. This isn’t a charger you casually toss in a pocket, but its detachable C7 power cord makes it a surprisingly decent travel companion for those who need to set up a powerful mobile workstation. The build quality is exceptional, feeling solid and robust with no creaks or flex.

Functionally, the port selection is well-considered for the modern user, offering three USB-C ports and one legacy USB-A port. This configuration covers nearly every charging scenario, from the latest laptops to older peripherals. The inclusion of ActiveShield 2.0, which monitors temperature over three million times a day, provides peace of mind that this much power is being managed safely. One notable omission, however, is a built-in display for real-time wattage monitoring. While this creates a cleaner, more minimalist aesthetic, power users who love to see the data may miss the at-a-glance feedback found on some competing chargers or even other products in Anker’s own lineup.

Ultimately, the Anker Prime 240W is a statement piece for a very specific user. Its high price tag places it firmly in the premium category, making it difficult to justify for someone who only needs to charge a phone and a tablet. But for the digital creative, the remote worker with a company-issued and personal laptop, or the tech enthusiast who demands the best, its value proposition becomes clear. It replaces a bag full of individual, high-wattage power bricks with a single, elegant, and immensely capable solution. It’s an investment in convenience, decluttering, and the certainty that you have enough power for any device you throw at it.

For the power user burdened by a collection of chargers, the Anker Prime 240W is a definitive endgame device. It is one of the most powerful and well-built consumer chargers available today, delivering on its promise to be the central power hub for your entire tech ecosystem. While it may be overkill for many, for those who need it, it is nothing short of revolutionary.
