The Future of Wireless Charging is Here: Anker MagGo Power Bank (Qi2) Review

Anker MagGo Power Bank (Qi2) Image 1

For years, the world of wireless charging has been a two-tiered system. You had Apple’s MagSafe, offering a seamless 15W magnetic connection for iPhones, and then you had… everything else. The Qi standard, while universal, was slower and lacked the satisfying magnetic “snap.” That era is officially over, thanks to Qi2. This new standard brings MagSafe-like magnetic power profiles to the masses, and Anker is leading the charge with its new MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh). It’s not just an iteration; it’s the blueprint for the next generation of portable power.

Performance: Full Speed Ahead

The headline feature of the Anker MagGo is its Qi2 certification, and it delivers exactly as promised. Slap it on the back of an iPhone 13, 14, or 15, and you get a full 15W wireless charge—the exact same speed as Apple’s official MagSafe accessories. In a world of “MagSafe-compatible” chargers that were secretly capped at 7.5W, this is a night-and-day difference. In testing, an iPhone 15 Pro gained roughly 45-50% charge in an hour, a significant improvement over older magnetic Qi power banks.

The 10,000mAh capacity is a sweet spot, providing about 1.5-1.7 full charges for a modern flagship phone. But this isn’t just a wireless charger. The USB-C port is a powerhouse in its own right, delivering up to 27W of output. This is fast enough to quickly charge an iPad, a Nintendo Switch, or even give a MacBook Air a meaningful boost. The port also handles recharging the power bank itself at a respectable 21W. The only minor drawback is that, like all 15W wireless chargers, it can generate a noticeable amount of warmth during use, though it never becomes uncomfortably hot thanks to Anker’s internal safety systems.

Design and Features: Smarter, Not Just Stronger

Anker has refined its design language with the MagGo line. The power bank features a soft-touch, matte finish that feels premium and resists fingerprints. While the 10,000mAh capacity inevitably adds some thickness and weight, it’s well-distributed and doesn’t feel overly cumbersome when attached to a phone. The magnetic alignment is strong and secure, easily passing the “pocket test” without getting dislodged.

Where the MagGo truly outshines its competitors is in its thoughtful features. The integrated kickstand is a masterclass in utility. It’s sturdy, metal, and allows you to prop your phone up in both portrait and landscape orientations—perfect for watching videos on a plane or taking a FaceTime call at your desk. Complementing this is a small but crisp color display on the side, which provides a precise battery percentage and an estimated time until it’s fully charged or depleted. It’s a small touch, but it eliminates the guesswork of traditional four-LED indicators.

Value and Verdict

Let’s be clear: this isn’t the cheapest magnetic power bank on the market. However, it offers a vastly superior value proposition compared to its most direct competitor, the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack. For a similar price, Anker delivers double the charging speed (15W vs. 7.5W on the go), vastly more capacity (10,000mAh vs. 1,460mAh), a high-speed USB-C port, and the brilliant kickstand.

The Anker MagGo Power Bank (Qi2) isn’t just a product; it’s a statement. It proves that the open Qi2 standard can match and even exceed the proprietary experience Apple created. For any iPhone user (13 or newer) who wants the full 15W charging speed with more power and versatility than Apple’s own offering, this is an absolute no-brainer. It’s the new gold standard for magnetic wireless power banks, and it’s ready for the wave of Qi2-enabled Android devices just around the corner.
