Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2: The Featherweight Champion Returns

Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Image 1

The original Logitech G Pro X Superlight was a revelation. It redefined what a lightweight gaming mouse could be, becoming a staple in the hands of pros and enthusiasts alike. Now, Logitech aims to recapture that lightning in a bottle with the G Pro X Superlight 2. Has it succeeded? Does this sequel justify its existence? Let’s dive in.

Right off the bat, the Superlight 2 continues the legacy of its predecessor in terms of weight. It remains incredibly light, shaving off fractions of a gram to feel almost weightless in hand. The familiar symmetrical shape is largely unchanged, which is a good thing – it’s a proven design that caters to a wide range of grip styles. This is a mouse built for speed and precision, and it delivers on that promise.

Performance is where the Superlight 2 truly shines. The new HERO 2 sensor boasts improved tracking accuracy and responsiveness. In fast-paced FPS titles, the difference is noticeable, allowing for quicker flicks and more precise aiming. The 2.4 GHz Lightspeed wireless technology continues to provide a stable and reliable connection, virtually eliminating lag. The optical switches now offer a slightly crisper and more tactile click, which may be preferable or not depending on individual preferences.

Build quality remains excellent. The plastic shell feels sturdy and well-constructed, showing no signs of flex or creaking during rigorous use. The PTFE feet glide smoothly across various surfaces, providing a consistent and predictable feel. While the minimalist design remains visually appealing, the all-plastic construction may lack the premium feel of some competing models incorporating metal or textured finishes.

One of the key upgrades is the introduction of USB-C charging, a welcome improvement over the outdated Micro-USB port of the original. Battery life is also improved, delivering well over 70 hours of use on a single charge. While it’s a noticeable improvement, the battery life still falls behind some of the competition, especially those with less aggressive sensor polling rates. The lack of Bluetooth connectivity also limits versatility.

Value is where things get a bit complicated. The Superlight 2 commands a premium price, putting it squarely in competition with some very impressive rivals. While it offers top-tier performance and a refined design, the lack of some “nice-to-have” features, such as customizable weights or onboard profile storage, might make some potential buyers pause.

Ultimately, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 is a fantastic gaming mouse that builds upon the strengths of its predecessor. It’s incredibly light, performs exceptionally well, and offers a refined user experience. However, the high price tag and the absence of certain features may make it a tougher sell for those on a tighter budget. This is best suited for competitive gamers who prioritize weight and performance above all else, and are willing to pay a premium for it.
